The mission of Alabama STEM Education, ASE, is to provide multiple, high quality teaching environment for children to be introduced to, learn the practice of, and thrive in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. To implement multiple access points for children to become immersed and well educated in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Studies show that Sciences, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines are the current drivers of the global economy; as well as the primary source of innovation. According to a recent report by Siemens, 42% of firms needing STEM skills, have difficulty in recruiting STEM-skilled staff. 45% of them anticipate difficulties over the next 3 years. A 2007 report from the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) A Gathering Storm, explains that we are not producing enough individuals trained in STEM disciplines to remain competitive with other nations.
